Programmable Logic Controller (PLC): The PLC is the core of the system. It's a rugged, specialized computer that executes pre-programmed instructions. It takes in data from various inputs (sensors, switches) and controls outputs (motors, lights, valves) based on its programming logic. Human-Machine Interface (HMI): This is the user interface, often a touchscreen display, that allows operators to interact with the system. It provides a visual representation of the process, enabling monitoring, data entry, and manual control of equipment. Input/Output (I/O) Devices: These are the components that connect the PLC to the real world. Inputs are sensors that measure things like temperature, pressure, or proximity. Outputs are devices like relays, motor starters, or actuators that the PLC controls. Power Supplies & Circuit Protection: The panel contains power supplies to provide the correct voltage for all components. It also includes circuit breakers, fuses, and surge protectors to safeguard the equipment from electrical faults and power fluctuations. Relays and Contactors: These are electrical switches that are used to control higher-voltage or higher-current devices, like motors, based on signals from the PLC.
